Our Approach

Every mode on this site — Find Time, Find Workers Needed, Work Done, and Pipes & Cisterns — is built around the same principle: show the method, not just the number. Wherever the inputs allow it, we use the classic "total work in units" (LCM) method that's taught in most classrooms and exam-prep books, because it's the one most students are already familiar with from their coursework. When that method doesn't cleanly apply (for example, with decimal or mixed-unit inputs), the calculator falls back to the standard rate-based formula and still shows every step.

About the Author

This site is built and maintained by Pradeep Khillare. Pradeep currently holds a senior position within a government department, and has cleared multiple competitive examinations over the course of his career — experience that gave him a close, practical familiarity with exactly the kind of time-and-work, speed-distance, and rate-based problems that this calculator is built around.

Outside of his government role, Pradeep builds and maintains a small portfolio of free, focused calculator tools — including this one — aimed at making exam-style mathematics easier to practice and verify, for students and teachers anywhere in the world. Every formula and worked example on this site is written and checked personally, with an emphasis on showing real working rather than just a final number.

We test this calculator's formulas against standard textbook methods and exam-style problems, and we keep improving the step-by-step explanations based on feedback.
